Round 22 v Hawthorn
In one of the games of the season, the Sydney Swans fell seven points short of an in-form Hawthorn outfit in front of a sell-out crowd at the SCG in round 22.
The Swans had a terrific start to the match and held the Hawks goalless in the opening term.
The home side continued on with their brilliant form in the second quarter and pushed their lead out to 38 point, before the Hawks produced an emphatic response just on the stroke of half-time.
Hawthorn held firm and were able to hold a four-point lead at three-quarter-time and were able to get the result in a nail-biting final term which saw the lead change six times.
A Ryan O’Keefe goal put the Swans ahead 28 minutes into the term before goals to Shaun Burgoyne and Brad Sewell sealed the win for the Hawks.
Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy (35 disposals) was the stand-out performer, while O’Keefe (30 touches) was not far behind.
