Last time they met
The Swans went into their elimination final against North Melbourne boosted by the return of Adam Goodes and Ryan O’Keefe. Despite these two valuable inclusions, it was the Roos who took the lead early in their first game at ANZ Stadium, kicking out to a three goal lead at the first change. Inaccuracy in front of goal cost the Swans dearly – the scoreline was one goal and five behinds to the Roos’ four goals, one behind at the end of the first quarter.

The Swans appeared to gel better after quarter time as they outscored their opponents for the term, but still found themselves trailing at half-time.
A revitalised Swans side emerged from the half-time huddle, hungry and determined to go deep into their sixth consecutive finals campaign. An eight-goal third quarter was the catalyst for the experienced finals campaigners who held on for a satisfying 35-point victory.

Three goals each from Barry Hall, Adam Goodes and Kieren Jack helped steer the Swans into the second week of the finals.
