Lewis Roberts-Thomson has also been named in the side, after receiving a heavy knock and concussion in last weekend’s 52-point win over the West Coast Eagles in Perth.
Swans coach John Longmire told sydneyswans.com.au that Roberts-Thomson has been given the all-clear from the club’s medical staff following the incident.
“(Roberts-Thomson) had a scan immediately after the game and the doctors said he was fine over in Perth, and he was allowed to travel back with the team straight after the game,” Longmire said.
“He pulled up really well on Monday and felt good and has been feeling good all week and the doctors are confident that he is fine.”
Swans midfielder Luke Parker will spend another week in the reserves, following a fractured collarbone that kept the teenager out of the game for a month.
Longmire said the 19-year-old would benefit from another game in the reserves before he made his return to senior football.
“It wasn’t ideal timing for (Parker) to be coming back and playing one week (in the reserves) and then the bye the next,” he said.
“He got a bit of training done, which was helpful, but the reality is we do want him back in the team soon and we know he’s a good player for us, but we just felt we’d like to give him another week to make sure he’s right.”
Looking ahead to Sunday’s clash, Longmire said the Swans will need to produce a much-improved performance to the last time the team met the Saints.
The last time the two sides met, it was the Saints who ran away as 28-point victors at Etihad Stadium in round nine.
“We need to play a more consistent brand of football than what we did last time against St Kilda,” Longmire said.
“We played well in the first quarter and last quarter against the Saints the last time we met, but we were really ordinary in the second and third quarters.
“Hopefully we’ve learnt from that because just playing two quarters against the Saints won’t cut it and won’t be enough and we need to be better than that.”
In what he expects to be a tough contest, Longmire called on the support of the Swans faithful to help get the team over the line this weekend.
“We want our supporters to come along and see our players play and support them on the ground,” he said.
“It makes a difference for us, and it did particularly in the Geelong game at the SCG where I’m sure it helped the players in the last quarter having the crowd behind them.
“We hope to see plenty of red and white in the crowd on the weekend cheering the boys home.
“You never know, it might just make a difference if it’s close.”
