The Sydney Swans have named an unchanged side for this Saturday’s mouth-watering clash with Hawthorn at the SCG.

Swans coach John Longmire said the team had recovered well from last weekend’s 82-point win over the Western Bulldogs and were all fit to return in this weekend’s twilight fixture.

“We’ll go in unchanged, so we’ll have the same 22 that played last week when we play against the Hawks this week,” Longmire told SwansTV.

“We got (Sam) Reidy back last week and we brought Mitch Morton into the team, so we made a couple of changes last week and we’ll give those blokes another go this week.”

Longmire confirmed that ruckman Mike Pyke would be fit to play this weekend, after injuring his ankle late in the game against the Bulldogs.

The coach said Pyke had got through training unscathed this week, and would line up for the Swans on Saturday.

“(Pyke) was fine and he did everything at training,” he said.

“He was a bit sore on Monday, but he got over his ankle pretty quickly and he was fine today.”

After playing less than a quarter in his Swans debut last weekend, Longmire said forward Mitch Morton would get another crack against the Hawks.

“(Mitch) didn’t get much time and it wasn’t until Pykey went off with his ankle that we brought Mitch on in the last quarter,” he said.

“He didn’t get much of a chance but we were pleased with what he did in that short time there, so he gets another opportunity this week.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s blockbuster clash at the SCG, Longmire said the Swans have prepared for a full strength Hawthorn side.

He said the team hadn’t taken any chances in preparing for the possible returns of Lance Franklin, Sam Mitchell and Josh Gibson.

“We expect them all to play,” Longmire said.

“We’ve just done our preparation around all of those blokes playing and they’ve got some stars.

“Mitchell and Franklin coming back into the team would be a couple of handy ins and along with Josh Gibson this week, they are three of the better players in the competition in their respective areas of the ground.”

With Franklin’s return a near certainty, Longmire said containing the Hawks superstar player would require a team effort.

“(Franklin) is a gun player and is a superstar of the competition and we will try and restrict the amount of ball he gets further up the ground,” he said.

“It’s not just whoever he is on or his direct opponent, we’ve got to make sure we put some pressure on up the ground and that’s what we’re going to try and do to help our defenders out.”
