SYDNEY Swans midfielder Jude Bolton has warned the competition that his team will take a 'nothing to lose' attitude into the finals series, after some indifferent form over the last month.

The Swans have lost four of their past fives games -- including a 45-point thumping at the hands of Collingwood last weekend -- but Bolton believes the recent record would only strengthen the team's underdog mentality as it prepares for a must-win match in the first week of the finals.

"No-one gives us any chance. There's no pressure and no expectations to win, and obviously there are a few teams that think they should be in there in our spot," Bolton said from the SCG on Tuesday.

"But we're just excited to be playing finals footy. I've always viewed it as a spot on the starting grid. We'd love to be in top four and have the double chance but at the moment we've just got to find form and get a few wins.

"So we'll back ourselves and make sure we don't fracture as a group. And we'll work hard on the training track, that's the way you work your way out of a bad patch."

Bolton, with 29 possessions, was one of the Swans' best in the disappointing effort against the Magpies, and the Swans' number 24 puts his good form down to "attacking the footy each game".

The typically aggressive attitude has seen him average almost 20 disposals per game in season 2008, and put him as a front-runner for club best and fairest honours along with Brett Kirk and Ryan O'Keefe.

Paul Roos suggested earlier in the week that some stars could be rested for the Swans final home and away match against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night, but the 28-year-old mainstay said he wasn't keen to watch the game from the sidelines.

"I love playing footy and I love playing the game and I don't think it's any time to shy away from it. We've dug ourselves out of holes before and we've got finals to look forward to."

As for Roos' 'end of an era' comments following the Collingwood loss, Bolton said there was still some life in the playing group.

"At the moment we've dropped away in a lot of areas and we've been exposed in the last few weeks.

"But there's life in all of us yet. Obviously we've got a bit of an ageing list ... but I think we can show we've got plenty to offer."

The Swans could still finish as high as fifth with a win over the Lions but are more likely to face a dangerous away final, possibly against the Magpies, a team that has already beaten them twice this season.
