When the Swans kick a goal, there’s every chance that Kieren Jack was involved.

Jack has had an involvement in more goals than any other player this season, according to Champion Data.

The speedy midfielder is also leading the competition in direct goal assists with 17 for the season, alongside Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich and Geelong’s Steve Johnson.

In the last eight rounds, Jack leads the league in inside 50s (49) as well as disposals forward of the centre (123 disposals).

Swans forwards coach Henry Playfair said Jack’s form has been a vital part of the Swans’ success so far this season.

“He’s been great and his stats are backing that up for him as well,” he said.

“He’s turning into a really important player for us and he’s got a great balance in his game.

“His inside work is outstanding as well as his outside work and ball use, which is obviously reflected in his goal assists.

“He’s using the ball really well and it certainly helps - for me as the forwards’ coach - for Kieren to be delivering the ball down there on a plate.”

Jack’s speed, determination and accuracy have played an important role in a number of crucial wins for the Swans.

In Sydney’s recent win over Geelong at the SCG, Jack was able to kick a must needed goal in the final minutes of play and was named in the Swans best for the match.

Playfair said it was Jack’s ability to stand up in the big games and remain consistent in others that makes him such a valuable player for the Swans.

“I think he’s definitely got a thirst to perform in those tight matches now,” Playfair said.

“He built a really solid pre-season and gave himself the best chance and I think now he thrives on the big occasions as well as playing well in any game.

“His consistency this season is really the big thing that has stood out for him.

“Whether it was against Geelong or Essendon or whatever opposition, he’s been turning up and putting up the same performance each week.”

Playfair said Jack, much like Lewis Jetta, is shaping up as one of the Swans’ excitement machines this season.

“Jetta and Jack are both different types of players but when they’re up and going it certainly helps out the team,” he said.

“It’s so important to have those types of players who can break lines and set you up through the midfield, so hopefully they can continue on.”
