The Sydney Swans reserves will kick off their NEAFL Eastern Conference season with a game against UWS (GWS’ reserves side) at ANZ Stadium tomorrow afternoon in the lead-in to tomorrow night’s historic Sydney Derby.
The Swans team will feature a mix of old and new faces, with Tommy Walsh, Mitch Morton, Shane Biggs and Jack Lynch all making their premiership season debuts for the Swans through the reserves.
Last year’s Eastern Conference leading goalscorer, Trent Dennis-Lane, has been named for his first hit-out of the pre-season, while Jed Lamb will feature for the reserves after a lively second half in last weekend’s senior practice match against the Gold Coast Suns.
After featuring in the early NAB Cup games, Walsh, Morton, Mike Pyke, Mark Seaby and Jesse White will all get a welcome game after last weekend’s reserves practice match against Ainslie was cancelled due to the weather and ground availability.
Jarred Moore, Nathan Gordon and rookie Campbell Heath all played briefly for the Swans in the NAB Cup and will get the opportunity for some consistent game time when the first game kicks off at 3.50pm.
Tomorrow’s game against UWS will also see the coaching debut of 2012 Swans reserves coach Jared Crouch who takes over the reins from Henry Playfair who has been elevated to the seniors forward coach.
