WE know finals are upon us. At this time of year the weather warms up, huge crowds flock to games, excitement and anticipation builds, and the cost of a Footy Record doubles. Got to love September!

Pre-game nerves are running high, but for most of the guys we try to keep our pre-game routine as consistent as possible.

Jarred Moore, Jude Bolton and I play Spot the Difference in the back of the Footy Record (from my point of view it’s the highlight of the magazine along with the Q and A section).

Lewis Jetta and Tadhg try to turn off lights in the warm-up area by kicking footballs at the on/off switch. Invariably they end up hitting the switch, but usually break the switch in the process.

We have a bit of fun a few hours before the game, but as it gets closer to the game we start to focus our attention on more important matters.

I have to say thanks to the Swans fans who turned out in force to help get us over the line last Sunday against Carlton. More than 41,000 supporters watched, screamed, bit their nails, and cheered us on at ANZ stadium. At three quarter time we needed to lift and the crowd certainly got behind us to help rouse us.

I don’t want to single players out…but I will. Josh P. Kennedy. I don’t know why he has a middle initial written in his name in the Football Record. I thought middle initials were only for cricketers and bank statements.

Anyhow, after his game on the weekend he deserves to keep it. Clean and strong in the contests, he was so important for us on the weekend.

One other noteworthy mention is Trent Dennis-Lane’s last quarter. The last few days it has probably been spoken about more than the position of the Independents in Federal Parliament. Trent’s ability to kick straight under pressure was so impressive.

I’m currently playing a game of Scrabble with him on our phones and all I can say is we’re lucky that we weren’t relying on his Scrabble skills in the last quarter. (e.g. devs - No, I didn’t make this word up)

We have now moved on from the weekend’s game and are preparing for the upcoming game against the Western Bulldogs. We’re all looking forward to playing on the MCG on Saturday night, and we’re doing our best to prepare for it.

Here’s hoping for another win and to see our Melbourne-based Swans fans out in force!
