DANIEL Bradshaw is expecting to begin training with the Sydney Swans this week despite uncertainty over his ability to reach the Swans through the NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft.

Four rival clubs hold picks in the pre-season draft before the Swans will be able to select the former Lion on December 15.

Swans coach Paul Roos said he would press on with plans to introduce Bradshaw to the club, regardless of any lingering concerns about getting the deal done.

"He's uncontracted now so we can put him on our training list and he can train with us," Roos said on Monday morning.

"We'll get him down here, make sure he gets involved and meets the players and we'll move forward on that basis."

Roos said he hadn't heard of any other clubs expressing interest in the 30-year-old and conceded the Swans had no "plan B" for the pre-season draft if Bradshaw was snapped up by one of Melbourne, Richmond, Fremantle or North Melbourne.

Meanwhile, changes that allow mature-age players with AFL experience to be rookie listed could save the career of injured Swan Henry Playfair.

His future at senior level has been threatened by a series of hamstring injuries and the club has given the tall forward until mid-December to prove he can regain fitness.

Mid-season surgery appears to have improved Playfair's condition and Roos said it was now a race against time for the former Geelong tall.

"He's been doing all the running with the players. He's getting to the stage where he should be able to join in with the football stuff, probably in a couple of weeks' time," Roos said.

"He'll need to do as much as he can prior to December 15 but certainly that rookie spot does give him more of an opportunity to stay at the club, more than he would have otherwise."

As the Swans look to finalise their plans for the national and pre-season drafts, Roos said he was yet to hear from Tadhg Kennelly about his intentions for 2010.

The speedy Irish defender has an open invitation to rejoin the Swans after winning a Gaelic football All-Ireland trophy with his home county, Kerry, in September.

"We'll probably have a last look at our list and Tadhg's a part of that, so we hope to hear from him soon as to what he's going to do," Roos said.

"I don't want to speculate until I hear that he's coming or he's not coming. We'll wait and see."
