This week I’ve answered a few questions that I’ve been sent.
Dear Ted,
Sometimes I confuse you with Sam Reid. You both have a similar haircut. Is this on purpose?
C Bolton, Havana, Cuba
When Sam first came to the club he had long hair all the way down his back. He started going to the same barber as me and asks for the same haircut as me. I know it can get confusing, as the commentators get confused a lot too. I’ve actually taken most of those big pack marks in the forward line but the commentators get it wrong and call me Reid.
Dear Ted,
Why do you call Mike Pyke ‘Wally’? Does he waste a lot of water?
Gary Lutz, Byron Bay
Pykey is very serious about minimising water use and maximising recycling. Pykey is called ‘Wally’ because he’s become known in the change rooms as ‘Wally Worst-Kit’ as he is a big fan of the ‘joggers and jeans’ look. For someone that used to dress so well he has lost his way in the last few months. We’re all giving him constructive feedback on his choices of clothing, but he can’t seem to move on from the Jerry Seinfeld look.
Dear Ted,
With the Premier League starting up a few weeks ago I was wondering if you and/or any of the other guys at the club take much of an interest in it?
M Bosnich, Sydney
I follow Queens Park Rangers (with a soft spot for my brother Vidic at Man U). Jarrad McVeigh and Tadhg are big Liverpool fans. Goodesy was going for Blackpool last year but they got relegated so I’m trying to get him onto QPR this year. We have a fantasy competition up and running with about 15 players and staff in it. Currently my older brother Jake is leading and McVeigh is coming second. Jude Bolton’s team which is called ‘Todd Carnage Time’ is going along ok too. Luckily our physio Matt Cameron knows more about muscles and injuries then what he knows about picking a good soccer team. He is coming last… by a long way.
Dear Ted,
I hear Josh Kennedy, Ben McGlynn, Matt Spangher, Dan Hannebery and yourself like to catch up a lot. Where do you go? Do any of the other boys go too?
L.E. Paris, Bondi
We all work part time jobs on our day off and catch up afterwards in Bondi. Benny McGlynn is in the building industry, Spang works at the AFL, Hanners and myself work in the finance industry and Joey Kennedy is in home security (he says that he stays at home on our day off and makes sure his apartment is secure).
Usually it’s just us five. We’ve been catching up for most of the season every week. Kieren Jack wants to join the group too but Dan Hannebery has informed him that he’s on the waiting list.
Dear Ted,
How’s everything looking for the game this weekend against the Cats?
Ken Octagon, Bondi
Good question Ken. We’re all really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a perfect opportunity to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the competition at their home ground. We’re approaching it the same way as last week against the Saints and hopefully all our Victorian fans can come along and cheer us on.
