Hawthorn has named Sam Mitchell in its team for Saturday's blockbuster clash with the Sydney Swans at the SCG, although the veteran midfielder, who was sidelined by a calf injury last weekend, remains under an injury cloud.

However, star forward Lance Franklin is just about certain to line up against the Swans.

Franklin, who was selected for last weekend's game against Gold Coast but withdrew due to illness, has been named at full-forward.

If he plays, it will be Franklin's first appearance since he injured his hamstring during Hawthorn's big win over Greater Western Sydney in round 15.

Defender Josh Gibson is also back for the Hawks after shaking off an ankle injury, with Chance Bateman, Stephen Gilham and Shane Savage omitted.
