The Board of the Sydney Swans is extremely pleased to announce that its Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Ireland, has agreed to extend his tenure at the Club until at least the end of 2016.
Ireland joined the Swans in 2002, to head up football operations and became the CEO at the start of 2010. From 1990-2001 he was CEO of the Brisbane Bears and then the Brisbane Lions.
Sydney Swans Chairman Richard Colless, who announced the extension at tonight Chairman’s Club function, said the board was delighted to secure such a long term commitment from its senior executive.
“The board sees Andrew’s contract extension as a major element in ensuring that the Club’s key objectives within its long term business plan are met, “ Mr Colless said.
“The Sydney market remains extraordinarily competitive and challenging, but with Andrew at the helm it makes it easier to attract and retain the best people across all areas of our business - which ultimately is our most powerful asset,” he said.
Since joining the Club in 2002, Ireland has played an integral role in the Club’s growth and success on and off the field.
