The Richards Report - best clubman
Ted gives us an insight into why Shane Mumford's standing at the club has gone up in recent times...
Shane Mumford is truly a man for other people. Each week he charges in at ruck stoppages, puts his body in harms way and whilst tapping it down to the waiting mids, he cops knees and elbows all over (for the sake of this week’s report please ignore that he gives out more than his fair share of these knees and elbows). He does this every week, except it’s something different, something off-field where once again we see big “Sugar” Shane Mumford’s generosity come out.
In our work-out area that houses our stationary bikes, treadmills and ergos our important stereo system stopped working, or as a few have said, “it’s gone into retirement”. Some people are unsure why it stopped working, but from what little I know about electronics it has something to do with everyone constantly trying to push the volume knob PAST MAXIMUM! If this was not the reason then it must surely be that it had had enough of playing Nick Smith’s questionable music.
Therefore with no option we’ve had to put the TV volume up to max and have been doing our work-outs to the inspiration that is ‘day-time TV’.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies (especially Swans Ambassador Kylie Gillies), but nothing is more de-motivational for a bike session then watching an advertorial on the wonder of the H2O cleaning Mop X5.
Shane Mumford, the generous man that he is, has come to the rescue and donated his own stereo into the work-out area. This stereo is massive and is so powerful I think it even has an exhaust pipe. I’m not sure what he was thinking when he bought it, but I’m pretty sure something ‘minimalist’ wasn’t a requirement. The boys are loving it and we’re back training hard with the music blaring away keeping us going.
I’m sure Mumford’s next door neighbours will be happy it’s now at the club too! The great thing about it is it goes so loud we won’t be breaking this one the same way we broke the last one… unless Nick Smith plays his music again. Time will tell!!!
Canteen Award
It’s very tight as to who is currently leading the ‘Canteen Award of the Year’. Thanks to all the people who contacted me on Twitter and told me who they thought is winning so far. It’s close, but it appears Campbell Heath is the current leader.
Song of the Week
Nick Smith has been given the privilege and chosen this week’s Song of the Week.
Final Word
It was great to beat Brisbane, but another challenge is ahead of us, the Eagles in Perth. It’s a big challenge in football playing them over there, but a challenge we’re looking forward to!
We’ve got great support over in Perth and hoping to see plenty of red and white in the crowd once again this weekend.
