Round 5 v Hawthorn
Co-captain Adam Goodes celebrated breaking the club’s games record with three second-half goals in a spirited comeback win over Hawthorn in Launceston in round 5.
Despite trailing by 20 points at half-time, the Swans kicked 11.6 to 2.3 in the second half to stamp themselves as a genuine premiership contender.
Goodes, who surpassed former team-mate - and great mate - Michael O’Loughlin’s 303 club matches, was one of the catalysts in the win, kicking the opening two goals of the third quarter which sparked the Swans’ comeback.
Against his old club, midfielder Josh Kennedy was awarded best on ground honours for his 27-disposal, 11-tackle, three-goal performance.
Defenders Ted Richards and Rhyce Shaw were again impressive for the Swans, keeping Lance Franklin goalless and Cyril Rioli to one goal.
The Swans kicked the last six goals of the match to run out 37-point winners.
