Round 4 v North Melbourne
A broken leg to young Swan Gary Rohan was a disappointing outcome from the Swans’ impressive 36-point victory over North Melbourne in round 4.
Rohan suffered a compound fracture of his right tibia two minutes into the match after kicking the Swans’ opening goal, an injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the year.
On a wet afternoon at the SCG, the Swans got off to a flying start kicking 5.5 to North’s 1.3 in the first quarter, a lead they never gave up for the remainder of the match.
Defender Rhyce Shaw was critical in the match keeping North’s star Brent Harvey to 14 touches, as was Ted Richards who held the fort down back.
The match marked former Crow Tony Armstrong’s debut in the red and white, which he celebrated with a goal.
