Sydney Swans premiership coach Paul Roos is eagerly awaiting meeting some of the club’s most loyal fans at the Canberra Legends Lunch next month.

Roos will be joined by Swans Premiership players Brett Kirk and Michael O’Loughlin for the Canberra event, which will be held at the National Gallery of Australia.

Roos said he is looking forward to reminiscing about the 2005 premiership with Kirky and Micky O and the Canberra fans.

“I’m really looking forward to catching up with a couple of the premiership boys in Kirky and Micky O’Loughlin, as well as the fans down in Canberra, who have certainly been terrific over the years,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to getting down there and just having a good time and talking about old times, and I guess even Leo Barry’s mark will come up!”

Roos said it was important for the Swans to show their support for the Canberra fans, who now find themselves very much within GWS territory.

“I think it’s really important for the fans to get down there and get to the lunch,” Roos said.

“We really appreciate the support of the Canberra fans, particularly with GWS now in the competition, it’s a challenge for us to keep our loyal fans and support them.

“Hopefully the Canberra fans keep supporting us as they have and don’t jump on that Giants bandwagon!”

The Sydney Swans Canberra Legends lunch will be held on Friday August 10 at Gandel Hall in the National Gallery of Australia.
