HEATH Grundy speaks with sydneyswans.com.au about season 2010, what he thought the team's best achievement was and confidence...

How do you reflect on your year?
I had a pretty good year. I was pretty consistent, except for the last game in the final against the Bulldogs. So overall I was pretty happy.

You signed a three year contract, so that was a good show of confidence from the coaches?
I was rapt with that. It’s great to know I am sticking around for another three years and I can go off and enjoy the break.

Do you feel you’re at the point where you’re really confident in yourself as a key defender?
Definitely. It started last year and then this year I got a few of the bigger roles. Being able to beat some of those guys or break even with them gave me confidence.

What was the team’s best achievement this year?
We started well and then dropped off a little bit but we showed that real Bloods stuff towards the later half of the season. That gives the team a lot of confidence for next year which is exciting.

The form that the guys showed in the last month was really good so it gets us up for next year. A few of the young guys really stepped up as well.

Which of your team-mates stood out for you?
Hannas (Dan Hannebery) had a really good year and Jets and Gaz were really good as well. Those guys were great and the guys in the twos played some good footy, such as Sam Reid. He was able to come up and have a game and was pretty stiff not to stay in the side.

Where do you want to improve your own game next year?
In my leadership towards the young guys and around the group. Playing centre half back, I need to. But I’m not the loudest bloke around!  Get around the younger blokes a bit more - that will help the team.

What are you doing in the off-season?
I’m going over to LA and Las Vegas for a couple of weeks with a couple of mates from here and about eight guys from the club. I haven’t been to Vegas before so that will be interesting.
