Senior players Brett Kirk and Jude Bolton have urged the red and white Swans army to come out in force and support the side this Saturday night against St Kilda at ANZ Stadium.

Bolton said there was nothing better than late in a quarter when the Swans crowd broke into the Syyyddd-neeeey chant, and the players couldn’t wait to take the field for the blockbuster match against last year’s Grand Finalists.

The call-to-arms to Swans fans followed a 'training’' session today for Sydney’s media and a number of the Club’s ambassadors. The session was conducted by Bolton and Kirk, along with team-mates Adam Goodes, Lewis Jetta, Daniel Bradshaw, Shane Mumford, Kieren Jack and Tadhg Kennelly.

A large contingent of media were led through some tough drills including boxing and a fast-moving handball exercise at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, before speeches and interviews at the nearly ‘Boy’ Charlton pool café.

Bolton said the players enjoyed turning the tables on the media, and a smiling Kirk was heard urging journalists to stop whingeing as they sweated through the boxing drill.

Club ambassador Ellyse Perry, who plays cricket and soccer for Australia, gave the boys a run for their money and said she loved the experience.

“I love following Aussie Rules and the Swans,’’ Perry said. “It’s a privilege to be a Swans ambassador, not only from the point of view of being able to come along to events such as this, but to be affiliated with such a fantastic club as the Swans.’’

Bolton, who was MC for the launch today, said the players were pumped for the first game. “It’s been a long gruelling pre-season and we’re ready to get into it. We can’t wait for Saturday night and we’re fitter and faster than ever,’’ Bolton said.

“It’s a really exciting, new-look outfit this year with a good mix of old and young. We’re looking forward to some of the new guys stepping out onto the field.’’

Coach Paul Roos urged supporters to join up as members for what promised to be an exciting season. “It’s a new-look team. We’re really fit and we’ve got no excuses going into the season so we’re looking forward to it, but we need many more members to join up and help us out,’’ Roos said.

Kirk said he loved seeing big crowds at ANZ Stadium. “It’s going to be a huge game against St Kilda so we want all the red and white fans to come out there and get behind us,’’ Kirk said.
