Needing to win at the SCG on Saturday night to overhaul sixth-placed Carlton, the Lions met with stiff resistance but pulled away in a seven-goals-to-two second quarter.

The Swans are farewelling champions Leo Barry and Michael O'Loughlin, and both have had their say in a tight first half.

O'Loughlin needed exactly 48 seconds to cap his final match with a goal, while Leo Barry had 14 touches.

Lions skipper Jonathan Brown kicked two goals in the second term.

If the Lions lose, they will finish seventh and must travel next week to face Carlton in Melbourne. The Blues were thumped by Adelaide at Docklands on Saturday afternoon.

The Swans can finish the season a creditable ninth with a win.
