THE MATCH Review Panel has given the Grand Final the all-clear after scrutinising Saturday's enthralling game between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn.

No match-day reports were laid by the officiating umpires and the MRP then declined to cite any players.

Any player booked for an incident in the Grand Final would have been hit with double demerit points.

The AFL has seen fit to praise the teams for the way they went about their business.

"The 2012 Grand Final was an outstanding contest and both clubs played the game in wonderful spirit," League football operations manager Adrian Anderson said.

"On behalf of the AFL, I wish to congratulate both the playing groups, and the coaching staffs of John Longmire and Alastair Clarkson, for the manner in which the clubs approached the most important game of our season.

“The 2012 Grand Final was a showpiece match and the Swans and the Hawks deserve the highest praise for how they represented our sport on the national stage."
