The Sydney Swans have named ruckman Peter Everitt in the extended side for Sunday afternoon's clash against the undefeated Western Bulldogs at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The veteran ruckman will play his first senior game of 2008 after undergoing knee surgery during the pre-season.

"I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face for the last week," said Everitt on Wednesday afternoon.

"I got through the game alright on Sunday, and then got the call on Monday.  It's exciting to finally get back to senior footy."

Everitt played two games with the Sydney Swans Reserves side in order to gain match fitness.

"It was only supposed to be a four-week injury when I went in for the operation, it ended up being 16.  A couple of weeks in the seconds hasn't actually hurt me, but I didn't want to get used to it, so it's just exciting."

Former Geelong forward Henry Playfair was also named on the extended bench.  If named in the final side, Playfair will play his first game for the Swans.

Other additions to the extended side were Luke Brennan, Ben Mathews and Nick Smith.

Nick Davis and Luke Ablett were the omissions.  Ablett is expected to only miss a week after suffering a calf injury during the match against North Melbourne last weekend.
