Swans coach John Longmire said the team recovered well from last Friday’s six-point win over Geelong and were all fit to play in this weekend’s cross-town clash.
“Everyone pulled up pretty well from training and the game last week and trained well this week, so we’re going in unchanged,” Longmire told SwansTV.
Longmire said co-captain Adam Goodes, who marked his return to the field with a relatively quiet performance against the Cats, has again impressed at training this week.
“He has been good,” Longmire said.
“When you play your first game in six weeks you’re a little bit generally sore, but he’s been fine all week.
“He ran and did some skills on Tuesday and trained fully today and felt great.”

The Swans will persist with their two-tiered ruck combination, with both Shane Mumford and Mike Pyke retaining their place in the side.
Longmire said he believes the Swans have the right ruck mix ahead of this weekend’s clash.
“It’s something you’re always looking at to make sure you get that balance right, but we think Pykey has been pretty solid in that area in the ruck or forward and has given us a really strong contest,” he said.
“Mummy we feel increased his presence around the footy last week and was handy in a few of our goals and is starting to build up his form and fitness.”
The last time the Swans met the Giants was in the competition’s opening round of 2012, where Sydney ran away as 63-point victors.
Longmire said he is expecting the Giants to hit back hard in this week’s second Sydney Derby.
“I think the whole footy world has noted how competitive they are and they’ve got some good balance of absolute talent in their team, but also some real hard nuts and they play a strong contested brand of footy,” he said
“As you’d expect with Mark Williams and Kevin Sheedy as coaches out there, they’ve been strong in that (contested football ) area and that’s what we’ve seen and I think they’ve built on that since our round one game.
“We’ve got to make sure we front up and face them head on, and we’re really looking forward to having a strong contest and giving ourselves the best possible chance while playing the footy we want to play.”
In light of Sydney’s newest sporting rivalry, Longmire urged Swans supporters to get behind their team this weekend.
“We really need as many Swans supporters as we can to cheer us, and we want to see as much red and white in the crowd as we possibly can,” he said.
“It makes a big impact and I’m sure it helped us last week in the tight last few minutes of the game against the Cats, and we’re really looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd this weekend.”
