The seventh-placed Swans are riding a three-game losing streak and need to beat the Suns to shore up their place in the top eight.
They have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, putting in a strong performance in a narrow loss to Collingwood in between disappointing defeats to Carlton and Adelaide.
With Shane Mumford, Kieren Jack, Nick Malceski and Nick Smith pushing for recalls, the Swans are aiming for an improved showing against the first-year club.
"It's a really important game this week," Swans defender Heath Grundy told reporters ahead of training on Tuesday.
"We played well against Collingwood, but obviously last week we were disappointing, so we want to turn that around.
"It's getting towards the end of the season, so to solidify ourselves in the top eight makes a big difference and that will set us up for the finals hopefully."
Ruckman Mumford is available following a two-week suspension, while Jack (ankle), Malceski (groin) and Smith (hamstring) are close to full fitness.
Craig Bird is also hopeful of retaining his place after taking a knock to the back of his knee against the Crows.
If they make the final 22, Jack or Bird could have important roles trying to limit in-form Gold Coast skipper Gary Ablett.
"Gary's obviously a great player and plays a huge part in their side," Grundy said.
"If we can nullify him it makes a huge different to us having a good win.
"Whether it's Birdy or Kizza (Jack) or whoever's in the side, we need everyone to help those guys out to keep him under control.
"Hopefully we can get Smith and Mal back in defence too.
"With Mummy and Kizza as well that makes a big difference to the side."
The Swans were wasteful in front of goal against Adelaide, helping the Crows steal an upset seven-point victory.
But rather than pointing fingers at the club's forwards, Grundy believes players on the rest of the ground need to be more efficient.
"It wasn't really wasting opportunities, I think our delivery hasn't been as good as it can be," Grundy said.
"We're getting caught wide at times as well so if we can straighten things up a little bit … for example on the weekend we overused the ball a bit too much in the wet weather and didn't give them first use of the ball.
"If we can get it in there a bit more that will make a big difference I think."
