Injured forward Ben McGlynn has not been ruled out of participating in this season Sydney Swans’ finals campaign.

Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron said McGlynn, who suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday’s Qualifying Final win over Adelaide, is still a chance to be considered for next Friday night’s Preliminary Final.

“(McGlynn) is holding up OK,” Cameron told SwansTV.

“He had scans on Sunday which showed a small strain to the outside hamstring muscle, but he’s walking around now comfortably and we’re hoping to start him running in the next couple of days.

“Then we’ll be able to gauge how our progression will go from there into next week and to next week’s game.”

Cameron added the Swans medical staff would assess McGlynn’s injury day-by-day and would have a clearer view of the recovery required by the end of the week.

“It’s a little bit too early to tell but we’re keeping our fingers crossed and doing everything we can,” he said.

“We’re not going to rule him out yet … but by the end of the week and early next week we’ll have a pretty good idea (about when he will return).”

In other injury news, Swans utility Andrejs Everitt will face a fitness test ahead of the NEAFL Eastern Conference Grand Final between the Swans reserves and Queanbeyan.

Cameron said Everitt, who suffered an Achilles injury a fortnight ago, will need to get through the team’s final training session on Thursday to prove his fitness.

“His Achilles flared up from the reserves final two weeks ago and it’s settling down and he’s started running again,” he said.

“We hope for him to join training at the end of this week because (the reserves) play their Grand Final on Sunday.

“If they can train him and get through then he’ll be available, but we’ll know more on Thursday with him.”

Meanwhile, Swans ruckman Mark Seaby should return to training next week after extended time on the sidelines with a calf injury.

“His calf is feeling good,” Cameron said.

“We’ve been concerned about when he is ready to push the intensity and resume training, so we’ve been holding him back from that.

“We’re going to keep him that way until Thursday and then we’re going to review it with a look to resuming training next week”.
