We take a look at some of the top prospects ahead of the National Draft to be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on November 24.
The following four youngsters are among those touted as potential first round selections.
Jade Gresham – Northern Knights/South Morgan
Height: 177cm
Weight 74kg
A small midfielder who has the ability to push forward Gresham has elite speed and power. He excelled at stoppages and was able to kick some important goals for his side throughout the season proving a great goal sense. Gresham was a member of the Flying Boomerangs in 2012 and won the VIC Metro MVP and TAC Cup coaches award. He won All Australian honours at the U18 Championships after averaging 23 disposals, six marks and five clearances.
Josh Schache – Murray Bushrangers/Seymour
Height: 199cm
Weight: 96kg
Schache is a tall forward the presents strongly on the lead and has a very clean set of hands in the marking contest. Not only does he have the ability to take a strong mark but he has shown he can convert his opportunities with a good goal sense. He also is a strong set shot for goal on his preferred left foot. The major strength Schache possesses is his strength in the contest as he takes advantage of his bigger body in the contested situation. Won All Australian honours for a stand out U 18 Championships playing for Vic Country where he average 16 disposals, 7 marks and kicks 24 goals.
Matthew Kennedy – NSW/ACT
Height: 187cm
Weight: 84kg
A member of the Giants Academy, Kennedy is expected to gain significant interests from clubs during the 2015 National Draft. A big bodied midfielder he has all the elements you would want in a draftee with the ability to keep running, and win his own ball. He is composed with the football in hand with an ability to make a good decision and execute while under fatigue. Another prospect who has shown an ability to push forward and kick goals. Originally from Wagga Wagga the Giants will have first access to the star youngster.
Ryan Burton – North Adelaide/PHOS Camden
Height: 191cm
Weight: 90kg
Burton is a talented tall forward that moves well across the field for a player of his size. He rarely misses a set shot and is able to get plenty of opportunities due to his strong capabilities on the lead. He booted five goals against Western Australia in the 2014 U18 Championships before suffering a broken leg and spending his 2015 recovering. A NAB AFL Academy graduate he played senior football in North Adelaide at the age of just 17 year old.
