And Andrejs Everitt, who didn’t play last week in the one-point win over North Melbourne, has returned to the team.

Forward Lewis Johnston and midfielder Luke Parker were both omitted.

Coach John Longmire said Dennis-Lane had earned his first senior game for the year.

“Trent has had 20 shots at goal in the last two weeks for the reserves, and he kicked goals at senior level last year,’’ Longmire said.

Longmire said Everitt had been included as he could play in attack or defence and would add flexibility to the side.

It was a tough decision to leave out Lewis Johnston, who made his senior debut last week, but Longmire said a number of factors came into consideration.

“Ideally we’d like to play (Lewis) another week but we looked at Brisbane’s line-up and the conditions up there and thought that Trent was maybe a fraction in front, even though we would have liked to play Lewis again,’’ Longmire said.

The coaches will be looking for TDL to apply pressure in the forward line. “When he has played his best at reserves level, the goals have come because of his chasing and tackling and pressure skills, and that was certainly the case last year when we played the final against Carlton. Trent kicked four goals, and the goal that sealed the game was because of his chase and tackle.’’

Longmire said Brisbane posed a very big challenge, and defenders Heath Grundy and Ted Richards were likely to share the job on Lions captain Jonathan Brown.

“But what’s most important is to restrict (Brown’s) supply and win the midfield battle. We’ve got to make sure we get our hands on the ball first,’’ Longmire said.
