Sydney Swans is proud to announce a new partnership with the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling and their ‘Reclaim the Game, Be Gamble Aware’ program.
The partnership will allow supporters and local communities to experience sport without betting advertising, and instead focus on the exciting game unfolding in front of them.
Sydney Swans will work with The NSW Office of Responsible Gambling to provide an education to staff and players about the risks associated with gambling.
Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley says the partnership is aligned with the club’s strong focus to contribute positively as a community leader.
“We are really pleased to be working in partnership with the Office of Responsible Gambling in reducing the reliance on gambling revenue and raising the awareness of risks associated with gambling” Harley said.
“The focus of our partnership is on reinforcing key messages associated with responsible gambling and as part of this, The Swans will not promote gambling advertising or sponsorship.”
“We are working closely with the Reclaim the Game program to make positive impacts on our community’s attitudes towards responsible gambling.”
Natalie Wright, Director of the Office of Responsible Gambling, says it’s exciting to have the first AFL club join NSW’s Government’s Reclaim the Game initiative.
“The Sydney Swans are a veteran AFL club that has always been known for its passionate and loyal fanbase. We’re proud to be working with the Swans, and I’m sure their fans will appreciate the strong sense of social responsibility that the club has brought to this agreement,” Ms Wright said.
“We now have four major agreements across three of the most popular codes. That really speaks to clubs’ recognition of their role in looking after their fans and their communities and the increasing desire in the community for a sports experience free of gambling advertising.”
