Geelong’s dominant performance against the Sydney Swans at Simonds Stadium on Saturday saw their star players walk away with a swag of votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award.

Sydney Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh, who picked up 31 disposals at a shade under 84 per cent efficiency, was the only player for the visitors to get a vote off coaches John Longmire and Chris Scott.

Geelong, led by Steve Johnson, Jimmy Bartel, Mathew Stokes and Joel Selwood, won the bulk of possession for the vast majority of the match and their votes reflected the dominance of the Cats’ 44-point win.

Selwood’s four votes saw him take over from Kieren Jack by two votes at the top of the award’s leaderboard with one round remaining.
