Sydney Swans forward Lance Frank has polled eight votes for the AFL Coaches association’s AFL Champion Player Award following Sydney’s thrilling two-point defeat to Fremantle at Optus Stadium in Round 10.
Franklin (8) polled equal votes with Fremantle’s Rory Lobb and Nat Fyfe, whilst Sean Darcy (4), David Mundy (1) and Michael Walters (1) also polled votes.
Franklin was instrumental in the game, kicking six goals, including three from beyond 50m and had 18 disposals and three tackles.
Following the clash, senior coach John Longmire praised his forward’s impressive performance.
“He was fantastic. As far as getting a couple of games under his belt now, and getting a bit more training and had a run around yesterday and said he felt good, it was just good to see him in that sort of form,” Longmire said.
Franklin was the only Sydney player to poll votes from the clash.
