The Sydney Swans have been in Melbourne since Tuesday, June 20, but co-captain Luke Parker says that the side are taking whatever circumstances are thrown at them in their stride.
Following their Round 15 clash against West Coast, the Swans haven’t been under too many restrictions which has allowed players to be able to see their families and friends.
Parker says the young squad are enjoying their time in their home away from home.
“It’s a bit different this week but we are just rolling with the moment. We had short notice to come down here and to get across to Adelaide, but we are looking forward to getting down to Geelong and another big challenge against another good side,” Parker said.
“At the moment we know we will probably be here for a couple more week at the minimum, but we are going to enjoy our time here.
“Once we find out what is happening for the rest of the year, we will cross that bridge but at the moment we are just enjoying our time.”
The Swans started their season strongly and sit sixth on the ladder with eight wins this season.
They face a seventh placed West Coast Eagles side who will be desperate to rebound from their 55-point defeat to the Western Bulldogs last week, but Parker remains confident in where his team is placed at this point in the season.
“We have a really good squad and we are confident with who we have out on the park,” Parker said.
“We have probably had a few unfortunate injuries with Errol and Braeden early on in the year, but for us it’s just about consistency.
“We have played some really good games against the top teams, and we did that on the weekend. We were happy with the majority of the game, there were a few things we need to clean up but we were right in it against a genuine premiership contender.
“We are confident with where we are at and how we are performing, it's just about a consistent performance and full games for the rest of the year.
The side prepared at Punt Road Oval this week ahead of Sunday’s clash at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, in what will be a home game for Sydney.
“It’s a weird one playing West Coast down in Geelong. But we have always seemed to play pretty well down there, the boys like travelling down there,” Parker said.
“It’s a different shaped ground but we will just have to adapt to that.
“You can only do what you can do. It doesn’t really matter where you play or who you play, its about how you show up, our physicality and our intensity and that’s the thing that is going to win you the game.”
