Sydney Swans forward Will Hayward says the side will be needing to back up their four quarter performance against West Coast, with another consistent effort when they face the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium this Sunday, July 11 in their Round 17 clash.
Coming off a dominant 92-point victory, Hayward says the side is still building as it looks to to improve on it’s 9-6 record.
Heading into this weekend’s clash against the top of the able Bulldogs, Hayward knows the side needs to be at their best.
“We are still building definitely. We haven’t played every game with a four quarter consistent effort and to beat a side like the Bulldogs, you need to play four quarters of your best footy,” Hayward said.
“If we can produce that, we will hold ourselves in pretty good stead but it’s about building on some learnings from the game and things we can do to get over the line on the weekend.”
Hayward kicked two goals in the Swans 15-goal victory and the forward said the side will be hoping to continue that form heading into this weekend.
“It was a really good four quarter effort from the boys on the weekend, and if we can do it against a top of the table team that will be pretty good.”
“We really needed a big win and West Coast are a quality side. We have been chasing that four quarter performance and for us to play the way we did, it will hold us in good stead against a quality side that we are playing this week.”
“It’s a really even competition. That’s the hard thing about it, no matter who you are playing on any given week, you can bank on it being a tough game and nothing comes easy.”
