Sydney Swans forward Lance Franklin returned to his attacking best in 2021, with the star forward showing on multiple occasions he is still one of the most damaging forwards in the game.
After being closely monitored with a thorough training plan during the pre-season ahead of this year’s campaign, Franklin went on to play 18 games in 2021.
The forward did not feature in the 2020 season after spending the Covid-impacted year on the sideline with injury, but he returned to the Sydney Swans forward line, kicking a team high 51 goals this season.
Bringing his career tally to 995 goals from his 318 games, Franklin featured with two six-goal hauls including a Round 10 two-point defeat to Fremantle and a dominant 87-point victory over the Gold Coast Suns in Round 23.
He went on to kick an average of 2.8 goals per game to go along with his 11.8 disposals, 61.4 goal accuracy, 4.5 marks and 2.6 tackles on average this year.
While showing he still remained a dominant force on the field, Franklin was also invaluable off the field, proving to be a great mentor for some of his younger teammates including Logan McDonald, Hayden McLean, Errol Gulden, Joel Amartey and Chad Warner.
