Get the latest on the injury front ahead of our Round 2 Friday night clash against Geelong at the SCG, with Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services Damian Raper providing an updates following our season opener and on the status of Justin McInerney, Joel Amartey, Marc Sheather and Tom Papley.
General Overview
It was a good hit-out against GWS in Round 1 and it was a strongly contested game, so our GPS numbers were reasonably down relative to where we probably expected them to be for a season opener.
That spoke to the ferocious nature of the game but overall, the squad came out of the game pretty well.
Justin McInerney
Justin McInernery ended up with a hyperextension injury towards the backend of the game. He had an MRI which revealed he has a knee-joint sprain so he is going to be a test for this weekend.
Joel Amartey (groin) and Marc Sheather (foot)
Joel Amartey and Marc Sheather both returned from respective groin and foot injuries suffered during pre-season. They both pulled up well and it’s exciting to see them back and up for selection this week.
Tom Papley
Tom Papley is going as per our expectations in regards to his hamstring injury. He had that injury in our practice match against GWS in Abury. We’re looking at that six week timeline so he won’t be available for selection this week.
