Last time they met

Coming into the match on a high following their 91-point thumping of Essendon, the Swans were keen to notch up a win against Port Adelaide. Port Adelaide, on the other hand, were looking to turn their season around after winning only three of their past eight matches for the year.
Port Adelaide started strongly, kicking the first goal of the match but were unable to sustain their forward pressure, allowing the Swans to go into the first break with a 12-point lead. Despite leading the possession and inside 50 counts, the Power still trailed the Swans at the main break by 11 points.
The Power booted the first two goals of the fourth quarter and hit the front for the first time all day in the middle of the final term. A comeback for the Swans saw Brett Kirk gather 12 disposals in the last term and Jarred Moore boot three goals, and ensured the Swans finished the game 11-point victors.

Brownlow Medal Votes: 3 – Brett Ebert (Port), 2 – Adam Goodes (Syd), 1 – Michael O’Loughlin (Syd)
