Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services Damian Raper provides the latest on the injury front, with updates on Tom Hickey, Harry Cunningham, Angus Sheldrick and Marc Sheather.
Overview
The players have returned from a four-day break over the bye in good spirits and well recovered.
In our Round 12 match against Melbourne, Colin O’Riordan sustained a concussion injury following contact with an opposition player and is progressing through the AFL Concussion Guidelines.
He will be a test to play this weekend against Port Adelaide.
Tom Hickey
Tom’s turf toe unfortunately failed to improve in the week leading up to our game against Melbourne and he was unavailable to play.
He has progressed well over the bye period and expect him to available for selection in Round 14.
Harry Cunningham
Harry trained well on the weekend and completed a volume of football skills as part of our training session.
He will be a test for this weekend’s match against Port Adelaide and needs to complete match play to be available.
Angus Sheldrick
It has now been eight weeks since Angus’ knee arthroscopy. He is completing football training with the main group and is looking to return to play in the coming fortnight, depending on how his knee recovers from an increasing exposure to skills.
Marc Sheather
Marc has not played at any level since he injured his ankle in the Club’s Round 10 VFL match against Richmond. Unfortunately for Marc, our investigations have revealed that he suffered a stress fracture of the navicular in the incident.
Marc subsequently underwent surgery last week to repair and stabilize the navicular. As a result, Marc will be in a cast for six weeks before commencing his rehabilitation program and will unfortunately be unavailable for the remainder of this season.
