The Sydney Swans have made two changes to the team ahead of their Round 14 fixture against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Lance Franklin will return from suspension, while Harry Cunningham has successfully recovered from an abdominal strain. Senior coach John Longmire revealing there’s no doubt the pair's return will have a positive impact on the side.

“Lance has the ability to be able to hit the scoreboard and be an important player in our front half. He’s had a good couple of weeks of training,” said Longmire.

“Harry Cunningham is another player who’s been really important for us for a number of years now, he plays down back and plays a really disciplined role. He’s been able to run and train the last few weeks and is looking really sharp, he’s a fit player. We’re looking forward to getting them both back into the team.”

The Swans return from a BYE having enjoyed a break before returning to training with a focus on taking down a strong defensive side in Port Adelaide.

“As all clubs do, they give their players a couple of days off and we were able to do that. We got them back in late last week, had a strong training session on Friday, a big hit out on the Saturday, we trained hard over the weekend to sharpen our attack and look straight ahead to port Adelaide.

"Since Round 6 they’re five (wins) and two (losses). Their ability to be able to stop the opposition scoring, they’re the number one team in the competition at it. Their record really from that Round 6 moment onwards has been very good so we’ve looked at that and can see they’re doing a lot of things right. We will make sure we focus on our processes, and really look forward to taking on a strong Port Adelaide team on their home deck.”

As the Swans head into the second half of the season, Longmire says there’s still plenty of improvement to see from his side over the next few months.

“We want to see consistency, it’s something we’re still striving for is to make sure we’re consistent over the four quarters. We’ll keep aiming at improving and developing that in our team.

"We understand the strengths that Port Adelaide have but also understand the strengths we have as a team, and we’ll look to bring that to the game over four quarters.”
