The Sydney Swans have secured exciting forward Sam Fisher as a Category B rookie ahead of today’s AFL Rookie Draft.
The Canberra product played for the Canberra Demons in the NEAFL this year after coming through Ainslie’s junior ranks.
The 18-year-old was also a member of the UWS Giants team that defeated the Swans in the NEAFL Grand Final.
Fisher, whose grandfather played for Geelong, adds speed and a silky left boot to Sydney’s squad.
Swans Manager of Recruiting and List Strategy Kinnear Beatson said Sydney is rapt to secure Fisher.
“What attracted us to Sam is his clean hands and his clever left foot, which he uses to either set up teammates in position or kick goals himself,” Beatson said.
“Sam joins us as a Category B player being a NSW resident and is already on his way up to Sydney – he is eager to start training immediately.”
