The Sydney Swans will face the Melbourne Demons with an unchanged line-up in their blockbuster Qualifying Final on Friday night at the MCG.

Tom Papley is expected to play after surpassing  the AFL Concussion Protocols following his head knock in our Round 23 match against St Kilda.

The Swans recorded seven consecutive victories to finish the home and away season in third place, but coach John Longmire insists his side still have plenty of room for improvement.

“We have been pretty solid in the backend of the year, particularly in the past six-seven weeks, we have been reasonably consistent, but we felt like in the game against St Kilda we dropped off in a couple of areas that we need to sharpen up on,” Longmire said.

“Preparations have been good, I guess we will wait and see how the game goes but we have been good at the things we can control.”

Meanwhile, the Demons finished their respective campaign with an emphatic victory over the Brisbane Lions, and Longmire expects the reigning premier to bring plenty of pressure around the contest - just as they have done all season.

“We need to be at our best this week. Melbourne are a very strong team.

“Their contested ball is first in the competition - they’re very good in that space, we know that they have some real competitors and we know that they’re a role based team.

“They play some important roles and we got to make sure we understand what they do, and be confident in what we do, and turn up and play the way we want to play."
