Preliminary Final
Sydney Swans v Collingwood Magpies
Saturday, September 17, 4:45pm
SCG
Sydney Swans coach John Longmire has confirmed an unchanged line-up for our Preliminary Final blockbuster against Collingwood on Saturday.
The Swans enjoyed the week off after recording an emphatic 22-point win over Melbourne Demons in week one of the Finals, but have been hard at work across the past fortnight in preparation for the sold out Preliminary Final.
"You don’t really know until you get into the game but we had a tough training session last Saturday and a week as normal this week," Longmire said.
"We have tried to keep it as normal as possible, knowing full well it is an important game, but trying to keep things as relaxed but when it comes to training and meetings, making sure we are switched on for that."
"It’s fantastic to be back at the SCG, a huge crowd here and a loud red and white crowd. It’s great for the players and to be able to run out on our home deck in a preliminary final is something you want to do," Longmire added.
While the Bloods have been playing with plenty of confidence in recent weeks, recording eight consecutive victories, Longmire has ensured the squad are leaving no stone unturned in the lead-up.
"We always look at the opposition and Collingwood are in great form and have some terrific and experienced players but it’s about getting that balance right and knowing that we have to back our system in and our players and make sure we do what we want to do as well."
Longmire also confirmed Josh Kennedy has officially played his last game for the Swans after tweaking his hamstring.
"Josh was an absolute long shot anyway and was really almost no chance of making it back before the end of the season," Longmire said.
"He felt a tweak in his hamstring on Saturday, but there was always an opportunity for that to happen."
