The Sydney Swans would like to thank every one of the 7,757 foundation members who supported our women’s team this year. Your incredible support has set the benchmark across the competition with Sydney topping the ladder for AFLW membership.

The record membership passes the 4,388 members who committed to the red and white in Season Six, when the Swans were yet to play a game in the women’s competition.

The AFL announced a new all-time AFLW Club membership record of 75,568 AFLW members overall, with Sydney Swans (7,757), Adelaide Crows (6,706) and Geelong Cats (5,938) the top three clubs.

Sydney Swans Chief Executive Tom Harley said it’s a testament to how much the game has grown in the Harbour City.

“We would like to thank every single one of our AFLW members for their loyal support this season,” Harley said.

“In what was a challenging season on many levels for the program, our players and staff worked tirelessly throughout. We achieved three Rising Star nominations, terrific attendances, and importantly we saw our team grow and improve over the journey.

“Reflecting on the first game at North Sydney Oval will no doubt bring a smile to anyone who was there – the atmosphere was incredible and there was an overwhelming sense of being part of something special.

“We’re incredibly proud of how far our women’s team has come in a short space of time and we’re even more excited about where we are heading.”
