Young Swan Isaac Heeney has polled a perfect 10 votes in the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Champion Player of the Year award after starring in Sydney’s win over Melbourne on Sunday.
The 22-year-old recorded 19 disposals, five tackles and two goals, and took a number of crucial marks when moved to defence in the fourth term.
Heeney finished with six marks and collected a Mark of the Year nomination on the way, using Demons forward Jesse Hogan as a launchpad to take a brilliant speccy.
Young defender Jake Lloyd complemented a game-high 31 touches with 10 marks and operated at 80 per cent efficiency to earn seven votes.
Exciting backman Aliir Aliir (15 possessions, 10 marks) picked up four votes as he continued to stamp his impact in the AFL, while versatile midfielder George Hewett (24 touches, eight tackles) registered three votes.
Forwards Tom Papley (two votes) and Lance Franklin (one) played important roles in the Swans’ win, while Demon Angus Brayshaw (three) also fired.
