Sydney Swans midfield pair Dan Hannebery and Luke Parker have strengthened their position in the top 10 of the AFL Coaches’ Association Champion Player of the Year award after starring against the Power on Saturday afternoon.
Hannebery picked up 36 disposals and two goals while Parker accumulated 39 touches, 11 clearances and a goal which saw them rewarded with nine and seven votes respectively from John Longmire and Ken Hinkley.
Hannebery (72 votes overall) is now in sixth place overall and Parker (69) close behind in eighth spot – both players are chasing Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield on 99 votes.
The midfield duo weren’t the only Swans to be recognised by the coaches, with Isaac Heeney (six votes), Tom Mitchell (four), Josh Kennedy (two) and Dane Rampe (one) all rewarded for the impact they had on the game.
Also picking up a vote – the first of his career – was Sam Naismith who continues to get better each game he plays.
