Sir Doug Nicholls kicks off this weekend

Round 10 and 11 of the AFL marks Sir Doug Nicholls Round in celebration of First Nations people and culture. The Sydney Swans will wear their Marn Grook guernsey at Marvel Stadium against North Melbourne this weekend before hosting Marn Grook at the SCG on Friday May 26 against Carlton.

During the two weeks, the GO Foundation - founded by former Swans legends Michael O’Loughlin and Adam Goodes, will be raising money to fund education for Indigenous young people.

Since launching the campaign this week, the foundation has raised over $75,000! Keep an eye out of calls to donate over the next two weeks. You can also donate, here.

John Longmire: “You control what you can control."

Senior Coach John Longmire spoke to journalists in a press conference on Wednesday (May 26). He discussed Lance Franklin and the Swans' growing injury list.

“In the end you control what you can control. We go out there every week and look at the type of football we want to play, regardless of who’s available," he said.

"You focus on that. We look at our shape, our contest, our pressure has been very good – something we’ve been able to hang our hat on – but we’re still inconsistent with that during games.”

Injury Update

Sydney Swans co-captain Callum Mills is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks after scans confirmed a moderate grade calf strain. He sustained the injury in the opening minutes of the match against Fremantle and was immediately subbed out of the game.

Meanwhile, young forward Logan McDonald suffered an ankle injury in a marking contest in the second quarter and was unable to return after half-time. Further scans are needed but he is expected to miss approximately eight weeks.

Longmire also confirmed in a Wednesday press conference that Marc Sheather would not return to play after experiencing "stress" in his foot while Tom McCartin also remains out this week.

Buddy’s next milestone

Lance Franklin requires just three more goals to equal Doug Wade in fourth spot on the VFL/AFL leading goal kicking list. The star player currently sits on 1054 goals. He is also just three games shy of his 350th milestone game.
