Sydney Swans senior coach John Longmire has confirmed his side to face North Melbourne this Saturday afternoon at Marvel Stadium, with young ruckman Lachlan McAndrew named to make his AFL debut while Peter Ladhams and Dylan Stephens return.

McAndrew, who was selected by the club in the 2021 NAB Mid-season AFL Rookie Draft, is an athletic QBE Sydney Swans Academy product from the Northern Beaches, and stands at almost 210cm. 

He has been a standout for the red and white in the VFL this season, averaging 12.2 disposals and 31 hit-outs per game.

Longmire welcomed the addition of the 22-year-old as he looks to fill the void of the injured Tom Hickey.

"Excitingly Lachlan McAndrew gets his first game. A local product who came through our Academy system," Longmire told Swans TV.

The Swans have been made to rue a heavy injury toll in recent weeks, compounded by injuries to co-captain Callum Mills and key forward Logan McDonald. 

With nine players unavailable for selection, Longmire remains confident in the playing group who are looking to do the guernsey proud. 

"We want to turn up and compete hard and give our members and fans a four-quarter effort."

Round 10 will see the launch of Sir Doug Nicholls Round in celebration of First Nations people and culture, which will also see the club proudly don the Marn Grook guernsey.
