Senior coach John Longmire has made three changes to his lineup ahead of Friday's night's Marn Grook at the SCG. The Swans will be looking to improve their record this week ahead of a bye in Round 12.

In exciting news, 24-year old Lewis Melican will return to the Swans' senior backline after sustaining an abductor strain in the pre-season. It will be Melican's first senior game since the Elimination Final in 2021, having been playing in the VFL, and his presence will bolster the team's defence.

Sam Wicks will also re-enter the team after a stint in the reserve side after returning from a shoulder injury.

“Both suffered some injuries concerns in the preseason," Senior Coach John Longmire told Swans TV.

"Wicks has come back the last couple of weeks which is good to see and Melican has missed a fair bit of footy, so it's good to have him back as well.”

Last week's debutant Lachlan McAndrew will play his second game for the senior side alongside Tom Hickey who returns after experiencing headaches in Round 10, replacing an injured Peter Ladhams.

The Swans secured a clutch three-point win over North Melbourne last Saturday but Longmire's message for the team hasn't changed.

“It’s making sure we’re striving for that four-quarter performance. We saw some signs of it last week, which we’ve seen most weeks," he added.

"It was good to get over the line but we just have to keep on improving.”

The Swans will play Carlton for the Marn Grook trophy in week two of Sir Doug Nicholls Round at the SCG on Friday night. The best on field will also be awarded the Goodes-O'Loughlin medal in honour of the two Swans greats.

"We’ve had some of the game’s greatest ever Indigenous players play for this club and we feel very privileged to represent them," Longmire said.
