Last time they met
The Swans came into their round 12 match looking to put an end to Collingwood’s six game winning streak against them. Despite Magpies play-maker Scott Pendlebury sustaining an injury in the first two minutes, Collingwood kicked out to a quick three goal lead. Kieren Jack’s composed two-goal effort in the first term helped reduce the deficit to two goals at the first change.

An even second quarter couldn’t separate the two sides but the Swans emerged after the main break determined to end their four-year losing streak. With Ryan O’Keefe (41 touches) and Brett Kirk (41 touches) finding plenty of the ball and Barry Hall chipping in with two goals the Swans took the lead late in the term. A goal on the siren to Collingwood’s Dane Swan put the visitors back in the lead going into the last quarter.

The Swans started the last term full of run and carry but couldn’t capitalise on their chances in front of goal, kicking six behinds for the quarter. At the other end, little could be done to stop Alan Didak and Leon Davis combining to put on four goals and subsequently run out the game as 23-point winners.
