Sydney AFLW forwards Paris McCarthy and Rebecca Privitelli say the Swans' four practice matches are a good opportunity to build connections ahead of the AFLW pre-season in May.
Sydney claimed an 18-point victory over Adelaide at Tramway Oval on Saturday.
Speaking to Sydney Swans media following the hit-out, McCarthy said the game was a chance to try new positions and implement some new things.
"It was really enjoyable, I suppose the period we have is voluntary so it's just really good to get a hit out and to hold them to one goal was pretty impressive," McCarthy said.
"It's just great to practice everything we've been doing the last couple of weeks and also with the Academy, it's great to see all these girls coming through and to have an opportunity to connect with the other girls and for us to see how they play.
"It's a great experience and they had a great game, so it was a really good day."
McCarthy spent time as a midfielder last season and has moved into the forward line during the off-season training period.
"I definitely want to make the most out of the opportunity and now I'm fully up in the forwards, I want to just to learn off the other forwards and play my role and what I bring," McCarthy said.
"That's just my goal for the next couple of weeks before going into the preseason."
Privitelli said the off-season optional training block was a connection piece for the team.
"I think the build-up to these next couple of games has been really important for us, the girls want to be in and we want to be training," Privitelli said.
"We love being together, so I think it's been a really good block for us but the next block is probably the most important part and it's even bigger.
"I think the next few weeks will be about playing some footy together and see what works, see what doesn't and to try a few different things and then once we hit the ground in pre-season, it's go time."
Next up, on Saturday, April 26 the team will take on a combined Adelaide Crows / Brisbane Lions outfit in Blacktown. First bounce is 12:00pm.
