Our loyal swans are back at the SCG this where they'll take on the West Coast Eagles in Saturday afternoon footy. While the two sides will play for the HMAS Sydney II Commemorative Trophy, there's plenty happening off the field too.

Swans, Eagles to play for HMAS Sydney II Commemorative Trophy

The Sydney Swans will clash with the West Coast Eagles this Saturday afternoon in a must-win game for both sides. The two teams will play for the HMAS Sydney II Commemorative Trophy, while the player judged best on ground will receive the perpetual Gun Shell Gallantry Trophy. 

First bounce is from 4:35pm at the SCG. Gates open at 2:45pm.

Arrive early for a pre-game Dragon performance

Heading to the game on Saturday? Why not arrive from 2:30pm and grab a drink at the Swans HQ Bar before taking your seat at the SCG. 

To celebrate the Duanwu Festival and our Chinese community, attendees will be treated to a vibrant dragon dance performance on Driver Avenue from 3:10pm and on the field at 4:08pm.

Dane Rampe commits to the Sydney Swans

Swans co-captain Dane Rampe has signed a two-year contract extension this week keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2025.

The 33-year-old defender has played 221 games in the red and white since being taken at pick 37 in the 2013 AFL rookie draft.

“Dane continues to be a very important member of our squad.  He has shown remarkable consistency and durability throughout his career and continues to perform at a very high level,” Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – Football, Charlie Gardiner, said.

John Longmire: “It’s understanding what the West Coast Eagles are capable of.”

Speaking to the media ahead of Round 15, senior coach John Longmire is not underestimating this weekend’s opponent. Rivalry aside, he said the side were capable of playing some good footy.

“A couple of weeks ago we saw that,” Longmire said. 

“They had a lot of late outs, they’ve been ravaged by injury and they get some premiership players back this week… But we’re also focussing on what we need to do. That’s really important.”

Heeney a test for the weekend

Longmire added that Isaac Heeney is a test for the weekend after the forward sustained a fractured nose, and subsequent concussion symptoms, in Round 13. 

“Heeney, if he gets through tomorrow, we expect him to be able to play,” Longmire told journalists.
