When you talk 3000 possessions at the Sydney Swans it’s pretty much Greg Williams and other midfielders. Williams needed only 106 games for the club to top 3000 possessions, and is a runaway leader from Josh Kennedy (120 games) and Barry Mitchell (126).

Jake Lloyd, a small defender for most of his career, is the first outlier in the ‘3000 Club’ at 127 games, and now there is another after Callum Mills became the 33^rd player to reach 3000 possessions for the Swans in his 146^th game last weekend.

Having played much of his eight-year career in defence, the 26-year-old co-captain ranks 10^th-quickest among the most prolific ball-winners in club history.

That is after he was 12^th quickest among the 33 members of the 3000 Club to 1000 possessions and 11^th-quickest to 2000.

Even more impressively, Mills was the fifth-youngest Swans player to 3000 at 26 years 89 days – two days younger than Kennedy. The only players younger than Mills at the same point were Dan Hannebery (24/102), co-captain Luke Parker (24/201), Barry Mitchell (24/269) and Lloyd (25/262).

Closing in on 3000 possessions is 168-gamer Isaac Heeney (2928), while set to launch an assault on the club’s quickest to 3000-possessions are young guns Chad Warner and Errol Gulden.

Warner, who was 49 games to 1000 possessions, would rank fourth among the top 33 at the corresponding point in their career, behind only Williams (36), Peter Bedford (41) and Kennedy (48).

And Gulden, 53 games to 1000, would be sixth behind this group plus Paul Kelly (52).
