Swans duo Laura Gardiner and Ally Morphett continue to shine in the opening three rounds of the season, polling votes from the coaches following the side’s Round 3 defeat to the Brisbane Lions.
Gardiner has polled votes for the third week running, claiming seven votes for her outstanding performance that finished with 41 disposals, 15 contested possessions, nine tackles, 634m gained and five inside 50s.
The workaholic midfielder was one possession short of an AFLW record, with her 41 disposals just one off the competition record held by North Melbourne star Ash Riddell. Gardiner had 12 touches in the first quarter, six in the second, nine in the third and 14 in the fourth.
Her wonderful display sees her sit sixth on the leaderboard with 19 votes after the opening three rounds.
Young ruck Ally Morphett continues to impress following her Rising Star Nomination earlier this year, to claim a further two votes.
The 19-year-old had a game high 38 hit outs, 17 disposals, 6 clearances and a goal to her name.
